Hi, Daisy,
I was wondering if the team will be working on the notifications this week--or soon...?
It's so frustrating. I, and my hoodies, love Vox. We rely on it to stay connected (if that doesn't sound too corny). Some of us are on Facebook, but a core of us are anti-Faceboob, die-hard Vox lovers. We've been here since 2006--3 years--and have developed enduring friendships, even romantic relationships, though that's not why we're here. We're here because we have a trusted community of friends. We've seen each other through deaths in the family, tragedy, humour, injury, health issues, work annoyances, and private, inner meanderings. We know each other better than many of our RL friends. We love Vox. We complain, but we still love it.
But like the one you love can drive you the most crazy, so it is here. We all wonder why these technical issues, making being here more of a bother than a delight, keep happening. Why does it take so long to correct? It seems simple enough from our end--you set your tech team on it and see what's screwing up. But then we don't hear for weeks and weeks, sometimes months and months. Consistently annoying, unaddressed issues like:
- no reply notifications
- no comment notifications
- blank Vox home pages
- difficult photo/video loading
- inability to delete photes while creating a post
- having our homepages load into a post because we clicked too fast on something
- Vox "eating" posts in process
- You ignore me when I need your support.
- Why don 't you answer my concerns?
- How come you didn't tell me so-and-so called? You never give me my messages.
- You're always rushing to do what you want, not what I want.
- Tell me what you're thinking. And I never know where you're going.
- Do you hear me when I talk to you?
- I spend all this time making things nice and you just mess it up like it doesn't matter.
So what's the deal, Daisy & Team? Are we all working on this or should we move on...?
Respectfully and very truly yours,
[ jaypo]
Wow! The last couple weeks have been nuts with moving and everything. We were without internet for a few days due to the move and man did I feel disconnected from the world. We're all moved in now, Bedrooms carpeted, most of the painting done, new furniture here.. It's a good feeling. The cats are adjusting, Murray slowly and Turkleton not so slowly. I think they're both happier to have more space. Turk is getting big! Mom brought Ella and Griz down with her last weekend. It's nice to have wheekers in the house again.
And the best news: Yesterday I got a call with an offer for the job I interviewed for last week! It's better in every way than my current job... So December 11th will be my last day in hell, and I can't wait. Let the countdown begin!
Ok, here are some pics!
I have an interview with the Cleveland Clinic in microbiology (first shift!) on Tuesday. Sooo excited. And nervous.
Been crazy busy lately! Got the keys to the house Thurs and went out to a very nice dinner at Salmon Dave's, A great restaurant in Rocky River. Started cleaning on Friday, got the floors done. Going back for the bathrooms tomorrow, then hopefully I can start on the walls we're going to paint after that. I'll have pics soon! Went home (to MI) for the weekend to celebrate Christmas/Thanksgiving/Birthdays with grandma who goes to Florida for the winter. Now I'm back! Ross stayed in MI for a funeral for his great-grandpa tomorrow. Amazing that he was still alive, and his great-grandma is living still.
I guess we're kinda on the lookout for kitty # 3. That'll be it! But Ross really wants a fluffy cat, so I'm blaming it all on him. We're gonna go look at a nice maine coon lady at the shelter soon, the one mom posted on her blog. But we're waiting til we get moved so we don't have one more cat to keep track of in the hubub. So we'll see if she's still there in a couple weeks.
All right! Time to veg out!
Well, I applied for 5 new jobs this weekend. All in departments I think I would enjoy, and all on first shift. Hopefully good things will happen!
We got all the papers signed for the house this weekend, and in the process discovered that my drivers license has my name spelled wrong. So that's great. I was planning on heading to the BMV tomorrow to get my plates and registration changed anyways, perhaps they can take care of it then.
Our final payment at closing was quite a bit less than I was expecting. Woohoo! I think I will buy a new fleece now. I've been wanting one, but didn't really want to spend the money on it. I think it will be my celebratory gift, since the next few months (years) are going to be nothing but work!
I really can't wait to get moved in and settled, because once we are I'd like to start volunteering at the shelter where we got Turkleton. It's a small place that has room for 20ish cats and the occasional dog they get in too. After the holidays we may see about fostering if they need people :)
Ok! Here's some pictures/videos
I went to the bank today to get a "Certified Check" for Saturday when we sign the papers and do the final walk through on the house. As I understand it we still don't get the keys until the 15th, but it looks like we should have everything else wrapped up on Saturday. Gonna be a busy week! Working Wed-Wed with the last 3 days being on 3rd shift. But my schedule for the next few weeks after that is going to be pretty good. Laura (girl at work) and I were dreaming up scenarios for the ideal workplace. I've decided to wait and see if they're going to offer me the 1st shift position before I seriously look for another job.
Turkleton is doing great! He's still sliding off of things occasionally (and Ross and I try not to laugh too much) while adjusting to having no front claws, and he's attempted to "mountain climb" both of our legs with no success. Other than that he's pretty much his normal self. There were some really cute 6-7 month kittens at Petco while I was there buying dust-free litter today... I think 2 is enough for now though!
Turk is home.. Currently choking me by laying across my throat while napping. But I wouldn't have it any other way :)
I am a wreck. Turkleton is at the vet getting neutered/front declawed and microchipped today. He can't come home until 5:30 pm tomorrow. I'm fretting around waiting for the call saying that surgery went ok. You'd think that this would be no big deal, how many pets have I seen spayed/neutered? In the meantime, Murr is having a great day. He gets to sit on his perch and look out the now opened sliding door completely undisturbed. Poor Turkle.
It was a great weekend! The MSU game was so awesome, lots of fun. We stopped at a few friends' tailgates. It was nice to see some people I haven't seen in a while. It only rained a couple times during the game, and wasn't too cold til the end. Came home to wish Toffee goodbye, Dad burried her on Sunday. Right by Chipper dog, I'm sure she'd like that. Sad to see childhood animals leaving, but it can't last forever.
We went to my friend Chris's Saturday and saw a lot of friends from home. It was a whirlwind of a weekend but lots of fun!
We're up bright and early to head off to East Lansing for the Michigan State/ UM game. Go Spartans!!
It's been in the 40's and misty-crappy the last 2 days. I love fall, but this is not fall! It's pseudo-winter!
Ross has strep throat... Hopefully he's better by Saturday, we're going to East Lansing for the MSU/UM football game! And the weather probably isn't going to be much better. He's already on antibiotics though, so he should be feeling better soon. I'm just hoping I don't get it! I'll be amazed if I don't, I've gotten it once a year (at least) for years and years, until just recently. *Knocks on coffee table*
Still in limbo on job decision.. I think I'm just having a quarter life crisis. If I could at least get on first shift then I could handle staying until something in the molecular/HLA department opens up, or I find something better. Somehow we're working short on 2nd shift now too and we haven't even moved anyone to 3rd yet! It's absurd. Oh well, I made no bakes. It'll make everything better.
