yay!! congrats for you and babbeh turtles!! &:o) When I saw your post yesterday, it reminded me: remember when they used to sell them little guys in pet stores??? sweet little babies~
Yes, YGRS. I used to buy the poor babies. Back then....everyone bought them and no one knew how to care for them. I guess that goes for just about everything bought in petstores today, too.
We keep living and learning!
Teho, you and Meggie Moo can rule the world! That'd be just fine!
They used to be sold until people realized they carried salmonella and other bacteria. Kids would get sick from sticking turtles in their mouths - or just playing with them and not washing their hands.
Gah. Can't imagine sticking a turtle in my mouf. *gags a little bit*
I never thought of turtles as pets. They were just another example of wild fauna we would come across, watch and enjoy and let be. Maybe pick one up and inspect closely, then let go back into the pond or creek (pronounced crick, of course).
They also sun themselves on the derelict raft of summer swimming past. We would have pulled it out of the pond years ago if not for its current use by the local turtle families. Or so we say. I think my brothers are just too lazy to remove it.
I did work that line over a few times to get it just.right. Every so often I can pull together words in just the right way. If I do it too much, I might raise expecations higher than I can reach. ;-)
Wonderful, Lauri!!!!! Yay and Yay Yay!!!! (I've been busy all day, and didn't see this til now, and haven't been to CO yet, and wow, cool things happen when I'm not lookin'!)
