I keep stealing Tom's QotD!
Name three words or phrases you wish you'd coined:
1. Craptastic/and or/ craptacular. As in "How's your workday going?"
2. Cubic Assload. As in, a whole lot. I learned this one from David Bobavey!!!
3. Ok Fine Used Trucks. Learned from crankypants. It's a sign at a business and also a great sarcastic snotty retort to someone who knows it all.
One phrase I DID just coin this weekend: "I'll meet you at Cork St. and Sprinkle Rd."
Which means, "Don't hold your breath, I won't be there." On my way to Chicago last weekend I passed the exit for Cork St. and Sprinkle Rd, and thought, "I just have to find a way to use that."
How did you create your username for VOX? What influenced your decision?
Submitted by Strive2Be.
Hm. I do have an answer for this.
My username IS my name. And, there is a reason behind it.
For a few years before I happystanced on CO I was interneting (gaming), and making up characters and not being myself and running across unsavory personages.
I decided I better stick to being myself, and therefore the name. Mine. It's easy being me. (Not boasting, just paraphrogging Kermit)
If you could ask any question in the world and get a true answer, who and what would you ask?
Submitted by jaypo.
So many questions, so hard to choose who I would want to ask, or who I would want to hear a true answer from.
Good question, though. I was thinking about this all day.
I decided to keep it simple.
I would ask Steve Irwin how all the critters are where he is now.
You have $100 to spend online in the next hour. How are you going to spend it?
Good grief. Only $100???
I have books to buy!!!
Where do you go to get away from it all?
Submitted by Hops.
If "it all" includes the Internet, then I go into books to get away from it.
Have you been affected by the pet food recall? Has it changed the way you feed your pets?
I'm glad you asked that question, Georgia.
I have been affected by the Pet Food Recall in the following manner. Ever since the announcement that contaminated filler was being put into pet food, I have been waiting for the announcement/crisis/panic/catastrophe that will be brought to light by the media when they discover that the very same filler is in the human foods we have all been eating for years. You KNOW it's going to happen.
I've been patiently biding my time.
Just last night a news item mentioned that the contaminated wheat gluten was found in chicken and pig feed. "Our food inspection system is broken" said one official.
Wait for it. Just wait.
Who's going to be in the Final Four?
I think we had already established that the Final Four will be Cockroaches, Fruitcakes, Twinkies and Cher.
Nothing else will survive nuclear annihilation.
What's one of your favorite quotes?
Submitted by Georgie-boy.
I have hundreds of quotes saved up that I love. Gathering wisdom from others is a favorite pastime.
I will share my most recent favorite, since I have too many favorites.
Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet. -Roger Miller,
musician
(1936-1992)
Yeah, Roger! :)
What are five things you're good at?
Submitted by HapaLove.
1. I am good at being a mom. First to my kids. Now to my animals and plants. I am one step away from being one of those crazy "collectors", though, through some aberrant overactive nurturing gene.
2. I am good at being a Med. Tech. Crazy, rushed, zip through one thing and on to the next work is perfect for me. I am great at being organized at work. At home forget about it!
3. I'm a good driver. I love to drive. It's my little home away from home. All by myself with the cds blasting and me singing along at the top of my lungs! Yeeah.
When we went to Ireland I was the designated driver. For some reason driving on the left was interesting, a challenge and I loved it!
4. Reading. What I do best. Or a tie with number 5.
5. Sleeping. Zzzzzzzz.
I have to add one, because it's a surprise to me. I am good at directions and reading maps. When I was just learning to drive I was awful, always getting lost. So, it surprises me that now I can pretty much know which direction is which at all times and get where I am going, even if on unfamiliar roads. Some things do improve with age! :)
What is one of your favorite poems?

Some Questions You Might Ask
Is the soul solid, like iron?
Or is it tender and breakable, like
the wings of a moth in the beak of the owl?
Who has it, and who doesn't?
I keep looking around me.
The face of the moose is sad
as the face of Jesus.
The swan opens her white wings slowly.
In the fall, the black bear carries leaves into the darkness.
One question leads to another.
Does it have a shape? Like an iceberg?
Like the eye of a hummingbird?
Does it have one lung, like the snake and the scallop?
Why should I have it, and not the anteater
who loves her children?
Why should I have it, and not the camel?
Come to think of it, what about the maple trees?
What about the blue iris?
What about all the little stones, sitting alone in the moonlight?
What about roses and lemons and their shining leaves?
What about the grass?
